Album Review

This album is about being vulnerable!

And let’s face it – the beginning of healing from anything involves humility and vulnerability.

We live in a society of: “I won’t ask - and - You don’t tell!” – A world reeling from the abuses and misuses of alcohol, drugs, sex, porn, overeating, gaming, you name it! Fill in the blank!!!

Having had my fair share of battles with addictions, there are two things that have stood out to me!!!

Not surprisingly these two steps are the beginning and the end of 'The Twelve Steps of Recovery' - according to The Big AA Book!

Step 1: Admitting powerlessness – Breaking the denial structures – The prodigal son's “Coming to your senses” moment!
Step 12: To pass on what you have learnt!

With this album I hope to achieve both! My Hope is that people will come to a point in their own battles where they can find healing as I have. Taking the Risks to Change through Faith with Hope!

This album tries to convey the journey through the battles of addiction.

It always starts with a wound, (Our Friends Were There); a childhood trauma of some sort!

It then moves on to certain battles and temptations. (The Temptress Of Proverbs), various drugs (Sweet Mary Jane) and lures and hooks (Porn Kills Love).

The healing starts after Step 1! In my case I was blessed with a beautiful wife and family. I admitted Powerlessness (East Meets West – an instrumental), was gifted with a Loving Wife (Lovers In History) and a Helper (I Love You My Dear) and later, a precious daughter (Julyen My Girl) and again later a son (James' song should be on my next album)!

The journey isn’t always easy sailing though; with many struggles (My Sober Streak) and near losses (In Our Vows), depression and negative thoughts (The Black Dog).

But with persistence and hard work, healing can be found (Tears In The Forest – an instrumental).

But ultimately all credit needs to go to A Higher Power – in my case – The Lord Jesus Christ!!! Our Redeemer and God of our Universe!!! (Freedom For Free). Thank You Lord!!!
